Founded in 1892, Dover Choral Society presents two major concerts every year.
New members of any age and ability are always welcome, with no auditions necessary. In addition we offer the first three rehearsals as a trial period to see if you enjoy singing, which we are sure you will! You then have the option of joining for a term or the whole year.
If you would like to join, please contact the secretary (see the “contact us” page) or you are welcome at any of our rehearsals, which take place in St. Mary’s Parish Centre, Dover. CT16 1BY and will start up again on September 4th 2025 at 7:30pm. We always have a break during rehearsals – there’s tea & coffee and sometimes even “CAKE”, so you will get to know everyone and have a catch-up.
Programmes contain a wide variety of choral works, both sacred and secular, using professional instrumentalists and soloists. Both major performances are held at various local church venues, typically in late November or early December and one near the Easter period.
Each summer we join with other local musicians to present the Dover Festival Proms Concert in support of local charities. Other musical and social events also take place throughout the year. The Dover Prom rehearsals will start on 5th June at 7:30pm, in St Marys’s Parish Centre, Cannon Street, Dover
Friends of Dover Choral Society include both singing and non-singing members. Friends receive tickets for both of our yearly concerts, as well as up-to-date news of additional concerts and other activities of the Society.
Our next concert will be Held in the newly refurbished and redecorated Dover Town Hall on Saturday 29th November 2025.
